MASTER BARBER

The State of New Mexico requires 1200 hours in Barber training and testing for graduation. The purpose of the Barbering program is to teach future Barbers the fundamentals of cutting, styling, hair coloring, shaving, skincare, nails, budgeting, inventory management, and safety judgments. This course prepares graduates to pass the State Board exam, become a licensed Barber and begin working in the industry. Upon satisfactory completion of the Barbering program, the graduate will receive a Diploma.

 

Barber Program – Occupational Objectives:

  • Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence.

  • Practice proper personal grooming and effective communication skills, and visual poise.

  • Respect the need to deliver worthwhile service for value received in an employer-employee relationship.

  • Perform basic manipulative skills in the area of hair care and skin care.

  • Perform basic analytical skills to determine hair care and skin care services to achieve the best total look for each client.

  • Apply academic and practical learning and related information to ensure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.
